You won't find this sprial ginger anywhere else - its habitat in Costa Rica is disappearing under the spread of the San José metropolis. Only here and only now is this plant being cultivated. The name is used in horticulture, but has been erroneoulsy applied to a different species for decades. Now you can have the real C. barbatus! Grows to two meters tall in semishade. Confirmed to grow well at elevations 750m and above. Flowers all year.
